MM0DUN Picture

My Name is Martin Higgins and I hold the radio amateur callsign of MM0DUN and am located in Dundee, Scotland.

I am also the keeper of GB7DD

I have been a licenced Radio Amateur since passing my Foundation Licence Exam in June 2002 with the assistance of the guys at Dundee Amateur Radio Club and received the callsign of MM3AWM.

I studied with the assistance of George MM0GGD for the last RAE exam to be held in the UK and sat my City & Guilds Radio Amateurs Examination in December 2003 passing it to receive the callsign of MMØDUN.

My daytime job is as Head of I.T. for a manufacturing company based in Dundee and Dewsbury, Yorkshire. I am also the company Group Quality Manager working to the ISO 9000 Family of Standards.

My hobby and personal interests lie in amateur radio, computing and anything technical.

I am currently a Member of Dundee Amateur Radio Club and Webmaster for their website. I am also a Member of Dundee and Angus RAYNET the Radio Amateurs Emergency Network.

I am also the Repeater Keeper of the D-Star System in Dundee (GB7DD) which was funded with a Grant from the Awards for All National Lottery Fund which I applied for on behalf of Dundee Amateur Radio.

It is my intention with the creation of my D-Star Information Centre to collate as much information as possible in one place concerning using Icom D-Star equipment and the D-Star Network as well as provide a list of other Web Sites that D-Star users will find of interest.

When I first purchased my Icom IC-E92D from Jaycee in Glenrothes I did not find the manual very user friendly and also found that I had to hunt the internet to gain the information from a number of different websites to enable me to get on air and make a contact via the D-Star System. The guys at D-Star Scotland have done a great job of bringing all the information together concerning their network and my plan here is compliment this.

Should you find that I have detailed anything incorrectly or have some suggestions for other information I can list then I welcome your email.
